EBSCO Information Services, partnering with Sirsi Corporation, now provides the invoice data and format specifications that allow libraries using the Sirsi Unicorn® Library Management System to receive and load X12 serials invoices from EBSCO. An interface between the two systems allows X12 invoice files to be transmitted to the customer via File Transfer Protocol and loaded by the library directly into the Sirsi Unicorn system. "The invoice interface represents a considerable time-savings to the library, and is one of the many ways in which EBSCO's collaboration with integrated library systems can increase efficiency for our customers," said Christie Burke, manager of e-commerce and integrated library systems, EBSCO Information Services. "We are pleased to continue our teamwork with Sirsi to make this and other valuable EDI (electronic data interchange) services available to our mutual customers." "The benefits of EDI are undeniable," said EBSCO and Sirsi customer Dana Taylor, head of serials services, LSU Libraries (Louisiana State University). "The once labor-intensive and time-consuming process of manually posting the EBSCO serial renewal invoice was reduced to just minutes with EDI invoice loading."
