LISTA from EBSCOhost® Proves its Value to Libraries in Its First Year
Free database from EBSCO Publishing Makes it Mark in More Than 24,000 Libraries

IIPSWICH, Mass. — March 29, 2007Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts™ (LISTA) has grown from a free resource released by EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) in 2006 to a vital, highly-used database.  LISTA, available online at www.libraryresearch.com, which indexes nearly 600 periodicals, plus books, research reports and proceedings, has been added to the EBSCOhost® profiles of more than 25,000 libraries since being introduced.  Users of the database have performed over 7.5 million searches in subjects including librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more.

Existing EBSCO customers can easily add LISTA to their library profiles while others can access the information at www.libraryresearch.com.

Stratton Lloyd, Vice President of Customer Satisfaction for EBSCO Publishing, says the rapid adoption and tremendous usage of LISTA is indicative of the demand for professional information resources for librarians and eagerness for continuous improvement, “Free access to LISTA was a way EBSCO could say thank you to all librarians and information specialists. We have been elated and pleased that it has turned into an indispensable tool for librarians looking to stay current in this rapidly evolving field.”

The interest in library and information science and technology  has created the need for full-text access. EBSCO has created Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts™ with Full Text. Libraries looking for full-text access to the information in LISTA can purchase the full-text version.  Since the index is available for free on the Web, purchasers only pay for the full-text component making Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts with Full Text an affordable upgrade for libraries that have made the abstract an invaluable tool.
