EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) is pleased to announce that it will soon provide access to the complete suite of online databases produced by the American Psychological Association (APA). This collection is comprised of the following five databases: PsycINFO®, PsycARTICLES®, PsycEXTRA®, PsycBOOKS™, and PsycCRITIQUES™ (Coming Soon via EBSCOhost®). Outside of direct access through the APA's PsycNET® platform, EBSCOhost will be the only interface to feature all five databases. Such accessibility through a single platform (EBSCOhost) will afford users the benefit of simultaneously searching across all five databases for the content that they require. In addition, aside from direct access via PsycNET, PsycEXTRA will be available only through the EBSCOhost interface. PsycINFO contains more than two million citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines, dating as far back as 1840. It also includes information about the psychological aspects of related fields such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business and law. Journal coverage, which spans from 1887 to the present, includes international material selected from nearly 2,000 periodicals in over 24 languages. PsycARTICLES is a definitive source of searchable full text, peer-reviewed articles on current issues in psychology. The PsycARTICLES database covers general psychology and specialized, basic, applied, clinical and theoretical research. The database contains more than 39,000 searchable full text articles from 45 journals published by the APA and 8 from allied organizations. It contains all journal articles, letters to the editor and errata from each of the 53 journals. Coverage spans from 1985 to the present. PsycEXTRA is a bibliographic and full text companion database to the scholarly PsycINFO database. The document types included in PsycEXTRA consist of technical and annual reports, conference papers, newsletters, magazines, newspapers, consumer brochures and more. It contains extensive coverage of "gray" literature relating to psychology and related fields and contains approximately 50,000 records with over 30,000 additional records added annually. PsycBOOKS is the newest full text offering in the American Psychological Association's array of quality electronic databases. The initial release features full text of approximately 500 APA titles in PDF format with copyright dates from 1953-2003. The database also contains full text coverage of 100 out-of-print books as well as an additional 70+ classic books in psychology, and the exclusive electronic release of more than 1,500 authored entries from the APA/Oxford University Press Encyclopedia of Psychology. PsycCRITIQUES (Coming Soon via EBSCOhost) is a searchable database of full text reviews of current books, popular films, and comparative reviews of books in the field of psychology. The database replaces the print journal Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, providing many enhancements, including more current reviews and additional content. Upon release, PsycCRITIQUES offers approximately 4,000 reviews dating back to 1995 and, going forward, will primarily review books published in the current copyright year. The American Psychological Association (APA), in Washington, D.C., is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and is the world's largest association of psychologists. APA's membership includes more than 150,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students. Through its divisions in 53 subfields of psychology and affiliations with 60 state, territorial and Canadian provincial associations, APA works to advance psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting health, education, and human welfare.
