EBSCO Industries, Inc. is celebrating its 60th year of serving the library and business communities in 2004. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the EBSCO Information Services' Brasil office.

"EBSCO Brasil has achieved this milestone based on its commitment to provide the best service to our customers," said Humberto Moll, general manager, EBSCO Brasil Ltda. "Our involvement with CAPES, the largest electronic consortium in South America, and our activities in other areas, indicate EBSCO's understanding of the importance of providing simple, efficient solutions for our library partners."

"It has been exciting to work with a firm that is committed to superior service and has consistently managed outstanding growth," said F. Dixon Brooke Jr., chief operating officer, EBSCO Industries. "Along with our 60th anniversary, we're also celebrating our achievement of becoming an industry leader, a position that is both gratifying and humbling."

In 1944, EBSCO Industries, Inc. founder Elton B. Stephens and his wife, Alys Robinson Stephens, formed a partnership to sell magazines, personalized binders and racks to the U.S. Armed Forces.

Today, under the name EBSCO Information Services, Stephens' original vision has expanded into a group of companies providing information access and management solutions through print and electronic journal subscription services, research database development and production, online access to approximately 150 databases and thousands of e-journals, and online book purchasing. With 31 offices located in 19 countries around the world, EBSCO serves libraries in the academic, medical, government, public and school markets, as well as corporations and other organizations.

EBSCO Industries has earned a Dun & Bradstreet rating of 5A1, the highest awarded, and continues to chart steady growth. The company just completed its most successful financial year ever. It is consistently included on the Forbes list of the largest privately owned corporations in America. More than 40 percent of the top 200 companies named on the Forbes 500s list use EBSCO to handle their information access and management needs.
