EBSCO Publishing is pleased to announce that it now offers more than 100 databases via its EBSCOhost® online research service. The number of databases available through EBSCOhost has been growing steadily over the last several years. Though many factors contribute to this continued growth, EBSCO believes much of this success can be attributed to the fact that it listens to customers' requests, and responds. This is especially evident in the quantity and quality of the databases it now makes available via EBSCOhost, most of which are direct responses to customer requests. "When we first launched EBSCOhost in 1995, we had a handful of databases available, but that number has grown dramatically," said Tim Collins, Vice President & Division General Manager for EBSCO Publishing. "We have long been thought of as the company that offers databases with the greatest quality and quantity of full text journals. This is something that we have put an enormous effort into accomplishing, and because of the strong relationships we have with publishers, we now offer 55 full text databases," Collins continued. "But, equally as important, we have made tremendous strides in growing our collection of licensed secondary databases to the point where we are now the industry leader in providing both full text and secondary databases." EBSCOhost has long provided multi-disciplinary full text databases to libraries worldwide. And as customers became familiar and pleased with EBSCOhost, inevitably requests came in for popular secondary databases to be made available, as well as requests for subject-specific full text collections. Again, EBSCO responded. The company now provides not only a long list of multi-disciplinary full text databases, but also an equally impressive list of subject-specific full text databases and the world's most popular secondary databases. According to Collins, "Although reaching 100 databases available via EBSCOhost is certainly a milestone, we are nowhere near our goal. Several additional secondary databases are currently in development, and we are working with a number of database providers in order to offer some unique collections of content. We anticipate more specific announcements regarding these developments in the coming months." Collins added, "As always, we welcome any suggestions for particular secondary databases to pursue, subject areas to enhance, or features to add to EBSCOhost."
